The Museum has enjoyed international acclaim since opening in 2002. Described as an 'outstanding museum' by the Independent newspaper and 'magnificent' by the Times, it has been nominated for the title 'European Museum of the Year'.

The Museum has also become a favored visit for many language schools keen to introduce their students to British history and culture.
For younger groups, the holiday activities featuring pirates, arts and craft sessions and even bouncy castles are a ideal for after school clubs, play schemes and toddler groups.
